Setting Up Ten Digit Dialing From ACT!

Are you one of the many ACT! users who is trying to cope with 10 digit local dialing?  If so, this article shows you how you set up 10 digit local dialing using Windows 98 from within ACT!.

This is what you do:

1. Select Edit, Preferences and click on the Dialer tab.

2. Click the Properties button, and the Dialing Properties dialog box opens.

3. Click the Area Code Rules button and the Area Code Rules opens.

4. Click the When Calling to Other Area Codes’ New button.

5. Add the area code that requires ten digit local dialing.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add additional area codes that require ten digit local dialing.

7. Click OK, to save your settings.

Accessing Area Code Rules

The Area Code Rules dialog box is a Windows 98 feature that accessable from swithin the Windows 98 Control Panel :

  • Modems: Click the Modems icon and Modem Properties box opens. Then click Dialing Properties

  • Telephony: Click the Telephony icon.
